After getting a star in the windshield, I tried one of those 'fix it yourself' kits - RAINX brand, $10 at Walmart. This the kind that had 4 suction cups that holds a rubber tipped tube to the windshield, and you add a few drops of resin to the tube and screw in a kind of piston that forces the resin into the star under pressure, resin then cures in sunlight by UV. Worked great - star almost invisible. Had some resin left over, so decided to try on some stress cracks in my old, original tail lights. Well, it worked as well as you could hope, silvery looking crack reduced to just a hairline and really not visible any more unless you hunt for it up close. Took a couple of goes along the length of the crack, as you would expect. Cracks kinda need to be in a place where you can get all 4 suction cups stuck, but you might be able to improvise by just holding it for a few minutes for cracks near the edge. Before is top, after is bottom in pic. So if you have stress cracks that bug you and can't be arsed to buy/install a new tail light, this might help.
